There are special valance rods available, it depends on the style of valance.  Most valances can be hung using a standard curtain rod.  If you plan to hang a valance plus curtain, this will require two separate rods which can be hung with a double bracket.  There are also some curtain rods that are designed with a built in valance rod.

This really depends on the décor in the rest of your room. If you have a lot of silver, nickel, or brushed aluminum accents in your décor, then the wrought iron curtain rods will coordinate best. If you are looking for a classic  look that will coordinate with best with wood and other golden toned accents, then look into the antiqued brass rods.


How do I Install Iron Curtain Rods to my Metal Window Frame? 

Most iron curtain rods are intended to be mounted to the wall outside of the window frame. So ideally you should attach the rod brackets to the wall rather than the metal. Use standard wall anchors or if you can locate the studs, use wood screws.


How to Mount Iron Curtain Rods to a Brick Wall? 

You can mount the hanger brackets for the iron curtain rod to a brick wall by marking the holes and using a drill with a masonry bit and plastic anchor inserts.   Drill the appropriate size hole according to the size of anchor you need and drive the anchor in using a hammer. Hold the bracket up to the wall and drive the screws into the anchor.


How Much Support or How Many Brackets are Required for Curtain Rods? 

A general rule of thumb for support is to install a support bracket every 48 inches. There are instances where more or less can be used. If you are installing very light weight curtains then you could extend the distance between support brackets to 60 inches but after that the curtain rods may start to bend in the center. If you have very long or heavy curtains then you may want to install support brackets every 36 inches.

There are curtain rods that install between two walls by using a spring inside and telescoping curtain rod to expand between the walls. These work particularly well inside the window frame.
