Hold the bracket up to the wall and drive the screws into the anchor.

A general rule of thumb for support is to install a support bracket every 48 inches. There are instances where more or less can be used. If you are installing very light weight curtains then you could extend the distance between support brackets to 60 inches but after that the curtain rods may start to bend in the center. If you have very long or heavy curtains then you may want to install support brackets every 36 inches.
